Ayni Baby Alpaca & Silk
Ayni is a unique blend of raw materials from the new world and the orient. The blend of 80% Baby alpaca and 20% silk produces a heavenly soft yarn with the depth of color and sheen that comes only from silk.
Baby Alpaca fiber has a diameter of 22.5 microns, which is equivalent to the upper limit of cashmere. The silk is mulberry silk, from cultivated Bombyx silkworms, which is more uniform than wild silk. and very fine. This yarn has a very even 2 ply spin, yielding a yarn approximately the same thickness as sport, 5ply and 6ply.
This yarn is a marvelous choice for a larger garment or lace project. A size 4 needle will produce a solid stockinette fabric that can be luxuriously worn next to the skin. I would use a size 7 or 8 needle for an intricate lace project, like a fancy scarf or maybe even a US 9 for a wedding mantilla or veil.

Beautiful yarn
The yarn order came very quickly and the yarn was absolutely fantastic. The color was a lovely red and I didn't want to put it down as it was so soft. Have not yet started knitting with it but I truly believe it will be heavenly!
