Your gauge can vary from 4st/in (loosest) to 5/st inch (closest), because this yarn keeps it shape so well. Look at the picture of the swatch above, US 6 needle is at the bottom. Here's what Laurel got for gauge:
20 st & 32 R= 4" on a US 6 for a quite firm fabric for jackets, slacks, pillow covers etc.
18 1/4 st & 29 R=4" on a US 7 for a solid fabric for structured sweaters, capes
17 st & 26 R= 4" on a US 8 for casual pullovers and all-over textured patterning
16 st & 24 R=4" on a US 9 for squishy knits or cable patterning.
A plain stockinette sweater with finished bust of 44" at 4st/inch will take about 1300 yards (7 skeins), and at 5st/inch about 1670 yards (8 skeins).
