Rylie Baby Alpaca, Silk & Linen Blend
What a beautiful 3 season yarn! Rylie is a unique blend of raw materials from the new world and the orient. This blend produces a soft yarn with a classic texture that makes it easy to wear, and oozes luxury. So sophisticated.
Baby Alpaca fiber has a diameter of 22.5 microns, which is equivalent to the upper limit of cashmere. The silk is mulberry silk, from cultivated Bombyx silkworms, which is more uniform than wild silk. and very fine. This yarn is about the same thickness as sport weight wool, but with more character.
Rylie is a marvelous choice for a larger garment or lace project. A size 4 needle will produce a solid stockinette fabric that can be luxuriously worn next to the skin. I would use a size 7 or 8 needle for an intricate lace project, like a fancy scarf or maybe even a US 9 for a wedding mantilla or veil.
